SUSIE (Susan Louise Harrison – 1971)

Joan was three months pregnant when we left Seattle to seek our fortune in Illinois. We lived in an apartment in Des Plaines for three months, and Susie was born in Sherman Hospital shortly after we moved to 69 Wilcox Avenue in Elgin. According to Wikipedia, Sherman Hospital opened on July 7, 1888, in a two-story Elgin house donated by local drug store owner and prominent businessman Henry Sherman. There were four beds and one operating room.
