BOEING’S ENGINEERING TEST LABORATORIES IN THE 1960s
Here is the Structures Testing capability booklet that describes the Engineering Test Laboratories test capabilities. Our group of around 200 people provided instrumentation control and data systems to support structural, mechanical, propulsion and acoustical systems testing. Flight test instrumentation was provided by another Boeing group.
Bill operated the 727 Flap Test and 727 Landing Gear Test in 1963. The last couple of pages of the booklet discuss the 727 Major Fatigue Test which he operated on second shift for 15 to 18 months in 1963 and 1964.
