KATHERINE BUNDICK’S BOOK: HARRISON 1673-1976

Amazing coincidence:

I wrote a letter of inquiry to the local newspaper in Lawrenceville, Brunswick County, Virginia in 1975 asking to contact anyone having knowledge of Nathaniel and Martha Kennon Brodnax Harrison who migrated from Virginia to Georgia around 1800. Katherine’s mother, Sue Harrison Epps, read the inquiry and forwarded it to her daughter, Katherine Epps Bundick in Towson, Maryland. Sue, Katherine and Sue’s son, Jerry Epps, had been researching the Harrison genealogy in Virginia for years. They knew, from their research, that some Harrisons had left Virginia for Georgia generations ago. They had no information about the Georgia Harrisons. I had no information about our Virginia kin. My father knew (he read it on the obelisk monument in the Harrison Family Cemetery in Putnam County) that our Harrisons had moved to Putnam County, Georgia from Brunswick County, Virginia. As far as I know, Daddy never had contact with any of our Brunswick cousins. He never mentioned any Brunswick kin. I have not found any contact information in Daddy’s genealogy records.

Only Providence could have provided the contact (thankful tears or goose bumps are in order). I went to Southside Virginia to meet Sue, Katherine and Jerry, and to share my Harrison ancestor information. Soon afterward, Katherine visited me at our home in Elgin, Illinois. As a result of our collaboration, Katherine incorporated my Georgia Harrison family data into her book (Chapter VI, Supplement). Katherine finished and published her book in 1976. She died 21 November 1986. Deepest gratitude for the contributions to our Harrison family history made by Sue Harrison Epps and her children Katherine and Jerry.
