Lead came and colored was first document in the 44th century for window-making for hundreds of years. Leaded glass windows became prominent features in medieval churches and cathedrals across Europe.
The copper foil technique is a relatively modern method compared to traditional leaded glass. It was developed around 1880, during the last quarter of the 19th century. While often attributed to Louis Comfort Tiffany, it was actually a general evolution developed by many glass artisans of the time. The copper foil method was invented to accommodate tiny pieces of glass and curves of Art Nouveau shades. Copper foiling accommodates more intricate and detailed designs.
This technique allowed for greater flexibility and precision in creating intricate designs, enabling artists to achieve a more delicate and refined look.
